“I was in business all of my adult life, making construction equipment, instruments and meters for boats, that sort of thing. When I retired, I ended up living in a house that had an extra room that I didn’t know what to do with. One day I was standing there looking at it, and suddenly I could hear in my head the question: ‘What are you going to do with this room?’ / I said, ‘I don’t know.’ / ‘Well, what was the reason you didn’t like business and never made any money in it?’ / ‘It’s because I had an artistic nature.’ (That’s what I always told myself.) The voice said, ‘Now we’re going to find out if you’re telling the truth or if you’re lying to yourself.’ It suggested that I get some paints and an easel, which I did. I started painting in the spring of 2007 and I’ve been painting every day since. Now I know I should have started doing this many years ago."
