"I’m a dance teacher, and I’ve watched a lot of little girls grow up. I’ve seen girls who had great potential but who had no one who believed in them, uplifted them, or complimented them. And I’ve seen others with less potential grow up to be absolutely dynamic women because they always had somebody in their ear telling them how great they were, how beautiful, how wonderful. It didn’t mean they were being spoiled; it didn’t mean they weren’t being held accountable. It was just that they were being told over and over that they were good people and that they were good at what they did. They came to believe that they were beautiful no matter what they looked like, that somebody loved them, and that there was somebody there to protect and defend them. It’s so important to instill that confidence in little girls. It makes a difference."
