"I call where I live Little Afghanistan because there’s so much shooting, just like what you see in Afghanistan on TV. There's something all the time. A couple of weeks ago, there was a shooting in my neighborhood---they had automatic weapons---and everybody was hollering 'Run inside!' but one neighbor went out again and got shot. I just stayed in the house and prayed. When I get frustrated or when there’s shooting, I draw. It helps me focus and get calm. I learned how from Ms. Pam. When I first came here, I told her I couldn’t draw, but she said I could, so I did. I’ve been coming to the church art class every Monday for two years now, and she’s been teaching me. Church is somewhat safe, but no place is safe really. You’re not even safe in your own home. I'm not going to move though. Why should I? There are problems everywhere you go."
