"My mother bought me a bowling ball when I was 16 years old, and I still have it. I used to bowl nearly every night. In fact, that's how I got acquainted with my husband. We had gone to the same high school, but the lanes are really where we got to know each other well. He was good-looking, and I liked the way he bowled. We were both 23 when we married, we've been married for 55 years, and we're both retired from working at the Peabody Hotel. He's not one to sit around and do nothing though, so as hot as it is, he's out doing yards.
"We've stayed together and been happy because Christ is important to both of us and we've served him together all these years. We're in the choir at our church and also sing specials from time to time. One of our favorites to do together is 'Sweet Jesus.'"
