"I grew up in India and have lived in various part of the United States since moving here in 1984. My husband and I have been fortunate enough to travel with our children and let them experience other cultures, which has given them a broader perspective on the world than they would have had otherwise. I know not every family can travel, but even if children don't have the opportunity to actually visit other places, they can still travel through their imaginations. They're able to experience different cultures through words, pictures, stories of children in other lands, and through culturally specific crafts. As a children's librarian, I hope to expose children to the broader world and help them realize that difference can be a positive thing. I really believe that a library can make a big impact on a child's life."
