"When I was 18 years old, I was working at a construction site and had an accident. I fell forty feet and it killed me for a minute or two, but the ambulance came and they were able to get me back. I feel like if there was any purpose in me surviving, it was to help create my son Nico. He's almost 4, and I'm learning more from him than from anyone else right now. Even though he has a lot of energy and loves to run and play, it relaxes me to be with him. He seems to know and understand things without being told, like he has a special intuition and empathy. And he's good with words. He's going to be smarter than I ever was. I'm learning to be a more patient person because of him too. I see little pieces of myself in him all the time, and I realize I can't be too hard on him because I'm struggling with the same things, just with a different spin. He's a special person. He's going to do something important someday, or at least I like to think he is."
