"It wasn't until I started playing the part of Mary Magdalene [in the Urban Passion Play] that I realized Mary's life was MY life. If I had lived back in her day, people would have stoned me too for the things I've done. Mary Magdalene was caught in the act of adultery and brought to Jesus, and the crowd was ready to stone her to death, but Jesus said to them, 'Whoever is without sin, cast the first stone.' They all dropped their rocks on the ground, turned, and walked away. Jesus had compassion on her in the same way he's had compassion on me. I've been with him for 18 years now, and I'm living the best life I could ever want to live. I'm in this play because I love him. He gives me hope."
The Urban Passion Play is produced by Greater Love Miracle Center at 585 Vance. The final performance is on Sunday, April 5, 2015, at 3:30 p.m.
