"I remember when I first realized that I could control the way I saw myself and the outside world, that I could define creativity and art on my own terms. I was in a really good mood that day, walking home from work, perfect weather, and in that moment I realized that it didn’t matter whether or not my creative expression matched anyone else’s standard or definition. I could determine for myself what it meant to be an artist. I could choose my own perceptions and interpretations. That approach comes out in my art, whether it's film, music, writing, or sculpture. I tend not to do non-fiction or factual works. I prefer to deal with subjects in ways that are magical, mystical."
