“Growing up around here is hard. Lots of gangs in the park and everywhere. It would have been harder to stay out of that if I hadn’t been playing ball all the time, but I went to school and just focused on basketball, which kept me out of trouble. If I wasn’t practicing or traveling with the team, I was at home. I graduated from East, went to college, graduated with a history degree, and now I’m looking to play ball internationally. There's a lot of bad stuff going on, so about the only time I go outside now is to play with my kids. They’re the best things that ever happened to me, and I love them. Wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world.”
