"I have a degree in sculpting, but this is my first show as a professional artist and I've included only paintings this time. They're spiritually driven and express a lot of different moods, depending on what was going on with me at the time. The pieces are untitled; I don't want to tell the viewers what to see; I want to leave it up to each person's own interpretation.
"Some people paint to music, but I just go into my studio and work in silence, with only the sounds that are naturally around me: a dog barking, a train whistle, an airplane going by, birds singing. When I look at a blank canvas or a piece of wood, I can usually see what it's going to be when it's finished. I'll start with a stroke or a gesture and go from there. I'm not a very verbal person. The paintings say more than I'm able to put into words."
