"I'm coming up on 92 years old. When I was a little girl in Somerville, I used to watch my mama and grandmama sit around in the wintertime with needle and thread and make quilts. They didn't do that in the summer; they were out in the fields working then. I watched them, and it just rubbed off on me. I worked all my life, but when I retired, I went to making quilts. I still have one my grandmother made. She was 104 when she passed in 1984. I imagine this quilt's near about as old as I am."
