"The work in this show is a tribute to a long-time friend who passed away. She owned a yarn store, I went in one day, and that's how we met. I started showing up every week for her knitting group, and we got to know each other over a span of about ten years. She was a fascinating, dynamic person."
"What drew you to her?"
"I don't know. That's what I've tried to figure out, what makes a person special. She committed suicide a couple of years ago. She was only fifty. I had to ask, 'How is this person who you thought was so strong, so troubled?' I've spent a lot of time trying to work through those questions."
