"I came to Memphis on a whim, just because I thought it would be a cool place to go to school, but I had a hard time when I first got here. I didn't know anybody, and I got into some trouble trying to deal with the loneliness. I did a lot of stupid stuff that I won't go into, but then I got involved with a Christian group on the U of M campus, and things turned around. I walked into one of their Monday night meals and just stayed. Now, when new freshmen come in, I kinda 'get' what they're feeling, especially that first semester, and I try to welcome them as much as possible."
